Framing statement for Gee and Cuddy

Recursive process:

I made tremendous changes between my first draft and my final draft.

This is an example of how I have changed a large majority of my transitions to make less repetition.

Integrating others ideas:

Others told me that my paper was to short which I then made the full required length. Others told me “I like your evidence, but you must elaborate on this using your opinion. It is always great to bring up quotes, but further explain them so the reader thoroughly understands.” -Sean M. I then took that and then proceeded to add my opinion. Another thing that was told to me was when I said in the introduction “For example Amy Cuddy says ‘She comes back to me months later, and I realized that she had not just faked it till she made it, she had actually faked it till she became it. So she had changed. And so I want to say to you, don’t fake it till you make it. Fake it till you become it. Do it enough until you actually become it and internalize.” Sean said “You got into this really early. This is an introduction. Should be more broad.” He was right, I then moved it into a new paragraph and elaborated.

Active reading:

I took images from both Gee and Cuddy of marked up annotations. These helped me understand and use the text better to my advantage while writing my paper.

These are examples of my annotations and how I explained them.

Critique others work:

I gave my peers great advice on how to improve their papers such as explaining what they mean or the opportunity to add multiple quotes. I did this in each of my peers papers. It could really be seen in Sarah’s in this specific incident because I believe this really would improve her paper without a doubt. She needed to have quotes there and if added would give great support.

MLA:

I clearly used MLA formatting correctly. I had my works cited at the end

This is one example of using MLA correctly.

And yet 2

I have connected three ideas between Gee and Cuddy.

This is  a great example of how Gee and Cuddy agree with each other “under the table” if you will. They also connect here

This is a good example of Gee connecting to Cuddy indirectly. Cuddy doesn’t directly speak about this but she was taught by someone in the discourse and she is teaching someone and she herself is in the discourse. Gee and Cuddy also connect in my argument by saying

This is an example of both Gee and Cuddy agreeing on the fact that you do not get into a discourse and truly be in it by over instruction instead of real life experience while being mentored by someone in the discourse.

I need to connect overall more of what others my say. An example of this is let us say “x” believes that Gee and Cuddy completely disagree. I would include what “x” has to say but then I would argue with the point made by “x”.

Questions for Re-Seeing Draft November 8th Gee 13-17

This annotation seemed to be a key concept in the big picture.

I thought this was an interesting question if it possible to mushfake through a discourse all the way or is there a limit.

This related to how the prime minister didn’t shake hands because the correct “physical language” instead in the case Gee is talking about normal verbal/written language.

Peer Review Plan

I am going to move this into a later part of the second paragraph. I am then going  to fill the empty space with the next plan of action.

I am going to add to the introduction and focus much more on introducing the topic and specifically Gee and Cuddy so the reader understands the topic better.

I am finally going to take this paragraph and make it into a body paragraph and elaborate and make it into a fully developed body paragraph.

New Thoughts

The new topic of “mushfake” is going to be evaluated and help my paper tremendously because it relates to what Cuddy says very well. Cuddy always talks about faking it until you make it and now Gee is explaining a similar phenomena but calling it “mushfake”. This even furthers my thesis that they are even more similar deep down although the superficial differences they may pose.

Gee and Cuddy Questions

2.Primary Discourse is your home ad where you are from. Secondary Discourse is your career and how you make a living. It is primary because Dominant secondary discourse is like your job and non dominant secondary discourse is like a hobby with friends who share similar thoughts.

3.An example of her secondary discourse is she is a teacher. An example of this is “So I’m watching this behavior in the classroom, and what do I notice? I notice that MBA students really exhibit the full range of power nonverbals.” This is an obvious example her hinting she is a teacher. Another example is from paragraph 14 is when she says “So my main collaborator Dana Carney, Who’s at Berkley, and I really wanted to know.” This is another example of her teaching of some kind.

4.She is explaining that non verbal communication could be very important in business and could lead to better things.

Comments for the plan

I need to use move a paragraph to use it as an introduction. I am going to connect the hassle better and move a few sentences and paragraphs around. I also need to use better and more transitions for my paragraphs.

I Just Wanna Be Average

It was difficult to read it all the way through. My eyes had trouble focusing in once in a while. I need to read more often and improve on it. It did not interest me which made it more difficult. This taught me I need to get better at reading texts that do not interest me.

In “I Just Wanna Be Average” the literacy moment was when Rose realizes she does not just want to be average. That drove her to be better. She grew up being in poverty and her father had bad health and lost his leg. These events had a big impact on her perception. She can look at her life as a whole and she realizes she does not to want to be just average.
